I have a more normal LJ account for talking about my writing and other incidental stuff. This blog was originally started to host in-depth reviews of webcomics I enjoy. However, I found myself unable to maintain an update schedule when I had to go into so much depth talking about a comic. Some strips are easy to go on about for hours, but most just kinda speak for themselves and I don't want to take away from that.
Anyway, inspired by the one-paragraph movie reviews that a guy on my home forum posts, I've decided to emulate him to a certain extent. The reviews themselves will no longer be posted on this blog, but I will make posts noting when new reviews go up, along with a direct link to the post in question.
You can make comments on the LJ entry, but a better option is to come join the forum and talk there!
Disclaimer:
Comic strips may alter their update schedules, change character completely, or even die altogether. Or other stuff, too. I take no responsiblity for the accuracy of such technical details in my reviews. I do not change past reviews to reflect the current state of the comic in question. I especially don't take responsibility for the update schedule I list when a comic's site doesn't have a schedule posted. In such cases, I make an educated guess.
Additionally, while I do my best to indicate the nature of a comic's contents, errare humanum est. Please understand that I take no responsibility whatsoever if you are shocked, offended, disturbed, or emotionally scarred in any way, shape, or form. Read all comics linked from this blog at your own risk. I shouldn't even have to say these things, but such is the nature of our litigation-happy society.
IMPORTANT!
Please understand that the primary purpose of my blog is to promote webcomics, not to criticize them. If I think a strip sucks, it never makes it into the blog in the first place. However, it wouldn't be a review if I didn't voice my negative comments (if any) along with the positive ones. Since these hardworking artists and writers are giving us so much entertainment free of charge, it limits our ability to whine about things to practically nil. All criticism in my reviews is intended to be purely constructive. Again, the mere fact that a comic appears in the blog means that I think it's worth reading. I may not read all the strips regularly myself, but none of them will suck in my eyes.
I permit, nay encourage anybody and everybody to reply to my reviews. That's what the comment function is for. I especially invite comic artists to respond to my reviews of their work, if they feel so inclined. Just make sure to identify yourself in the comment!
I'm always open to suggestions for new comics to enjoy. Thanks for reading!
Due to SalmonBot, I must post here that my AIM is ArchangelM127. Feel free to IM me!
